Live Kahoots allow students to submit answers using an internet-connected device, such as a tablet, phone, or computer. Questions with answer options are projected onto the classroom screen. To appeal to all learners, questions and polls may contain images or video. Teachers can choose from Team or Classic mode for live Kahoots. 

Team mode allows students to work together and compete against each other. Although Assigned Challenges may be completed simultaneously, students can still earn points for quick responses and compete with their classmates. The leaderboard will appear after all participants have replied. Kahoot! It doesn’t require student accounts. All you need is a game pin from the main screen, and a name for each player.

Created quizzes can be multi-choice or true/false. Creators have the ability to adjust the time limit and value of each question. Premium accounts offer more options, such as multi-select quizzes.

How can I get Kahoot for the Classroom?

Kahoot! currently offers free access to all educators. Go to https://getkahoot.com and click on the tab that says “GET MY FREE ACCOUNT.” Provide your role (i.e., instructor) and your institution, create a username, supply your e-mail address, and select a password. Kahoot is now available! 

You will need to choose whether you want to create a new Kahoot! or duplicate an existing one. You must indicate whether you are creating a Kahoot! as a discussion question or survey. If you choose to duplicate one, you can make any changes to the previous questions. 

You can also choose whether your game should remain private (for your classroom only) or open to the public (for all instructors to use in their classrooms).
